I came across this article on the net while investigating how to implement pretty 404 pages in Joomla! (check it, http://www.coleharbourcap.ca/doesnotexist.html). It is a pretty interesting article about the etiquette towards your site members when the search engine (or lets be honest, the user themself) makes a boo-boo and types a bogus filename.
